Dame Vera continued her singing career after the war, and was active right up until her death, hitting the astonishing milestone of 96 years in the music industry. Her songs, such as 'We'll Meet Again' and '(There'll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover' boosted the morale of a nation just when it needed it the most, and in recognition of this she was named the Briton who best exemplified the spirit of the 20th century in 2000. She was most famous for inspiring British soldiers during the Second World War, being voted as 'Forces' Sweetheart' in a Daily Express newspaper poll in 1939. 2022 would have been Dame Vera's 105th birthday, who sadly passed away at the age of 103 in this year.
The esteemed wartime singer, Dame Vera Lynn, is honoured on this silver proof 2022 Two Pound coin from The Royal Mint.
